And the Award for Best Community Engagement Program goes to…

The inaugural Insurance Business Awards took place on Friday 4th May at The Westin Sydney.  More than 600 of Australia’s top Insurance professionals attended to recognise the industry’s finest.

Awards were presented in 25 categories that recognised the work of authorised representatives, brokers, brokerages, underwriting agencies and insurers who are setting the industry standard.

We were named the winner of Best Community Engagement Program – Broker, ahead of finalists Elliott Insurance Brokers, Insurance Advisernet, JLT, Knightcorp Insurance Brokers, and PSC Connect.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Best Community Engagement Program – Broker,” said Andrew Locke, Adroit Managing Director. “To be recognised among the calibre of businesses that were nominated is truly humbling. A strong community value is at the heart of our organisation and driven by the passion of our people. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved and are thrilled by the recognition this award brings.”

As a business, we have been actively involved in the community, achieving many milestones over the years. In 2014, our team developed a dedicated community investment strategy to provide more structure and focus on how the business wanted to engage in their local communities, a decision based on maximising the contribution and support we could provide and combining the passion of our people to engage in and support where they live and work.

Last year alone, our team dedicated more than 460 hours volunteering to local charities and organisations, raised $300,000 via the hosting and co-organisation of events, contributed $95,000 in sponsorship to local sporting clubs and community organisations, and donated $63,000 to local charities. We were also able to reach the amazing milestone of $2 million raised from Adroit’s own and co-organised events.

Over the years, some of our most notable events include partnering with the Cotton On Foundation to bring Run Ballarat to the community of Ballarat, and via the proceeds raised funding the refurbishment of the Ballarat Base Hospital Children’s Ward. The Adroit Geelong Charity Golf Day in 16 years has raised over $1 million including in excess of $100,000 in the past two years alone, with the proceeds helping to fund many local Geelong charity initiatives such as The Bethany Men’s Centre.

We take pride in partnering with locals in the communities we service and championing the many causes that are out there, none of which would be possible without the engagement and support of the entire Adroit team,” said Andrew Locke. “This award is tremendous recognition for them and for sharing a belief that we are simply doing what we believe is right.”

Adroit sets the pace in Ballarat

RUN BALLARAT 2016-2755

At Adroit, our commitment to making a difference in the local communities in which we operate is a core part of our organisation and values.

Recently, our Ballarat Branch was awarded the top prize in the Professional Service category at the Ballarat Business Excellence Awards. Being recognised by our community is certainly a great honour, second only to collaborating with groups like Run Australia.

“We endeavour to make a difference by consciously giving of ourselves, our time and our resources. Our endeavours in co-organising Run Ballarat helps to fund the redevelopment of the Children’s Ward of the local Public Hospital and in turn, provides an asset which brings security and surety for future generations.” – Damon Edwards – Managing Principal of Adroit Insurance Group, Ballarat

Being involved in the local community is truly a rewarding experience and we continually seek opportunities where possible to do so – such as continued involvement with Run Ballarat.

More than just a “fun run”, Run Ballarat has made a significant contribution to the Children’s Ward at Ballarat Base Hospital since 2012. Our continued involvement sees a five-year commitment to support the much-needed redevelopment of the Paediatric and Adolescent Unit. The redeveloped space will include extra beds, updated technology, and additional support services with a commitment from Run Ballarat to fund half of the project.

How can you get involved? With a range of fun runs for both adults and children, there’s something for everyone! If strapping on the sneakers yourself isn’t an appealing option, there are plenty of other ways to support the event on Sunday 22nd October. Get involved by heading to the Run Australia website to view other volunteer opportunities or to donate: http://runaustralia.com.au/location/ballarat/

With great anticipation, we look forward to 2018, when the new facility will open its doors.

We hope to see you there!

We will host our 16th Annual Charity Golf Day at 13th Beach Golf Links, Barwon Heads on 23rd November 2017. Since its inception, the event has grown to one of the largest in the Geelong fundraising calendar, raising over $900,000 for local causes.

We have enjoyed a long, fruitful relationship with the Geelong Community Foundation, including as community partner of the Adroit Charity Golf Day. In this role, the Foundation has supported Adroit to distribute funds raised to worthy local causes, for example, $61,000 of the $100,000 total raised in 2016 was donated to Barwon Child Youth & Family (BCYF) to fund the refurbishment of the Street Surfer Bus.

In previous years funds have been donated to projects such as the development of the St Laurence Sensory Garden Project, Karingal Life Long Learning & Education room and St John of God Hospital. The funds raised from this charity event have supported many projects and will have far reaching benefits in our community for many years to come.

The establishment of the $100,000 Adroit Golf Day Capital Grant will provide a new significant grant opportunity for community organisations. The Foundation will offer the Adroit Golf Day Capital Grant Program to community organisations based on a number of requirements, with applications for the closing Friday 7th July 2017.

We are very excited for this new avenue established for giving back to our community. For all application information and requirements, please visit the Geelong Community Foundation.

Four ingredients for a great partnership

Great partnerships often start with a realisation of shared interests, some good company, a passion for the local community, and of course, a glass of wine!

We are proud to officially announce our formal partnership with the Geelong Wine Association for 2017.

Adroit Insurance Group (insurance brokers), Coulter Roache (lawyers), Fluid (brand, communication, digital design) and West Carr & Harvey (accountants) have come together to support and celebrate the Geelong Winegrowers Association and its members.

This partnership was born out of recognition of our shared commitment to supporting local growers in the region and helping bring the broader community together to celebrate their offerings and achievements.

The Geelong Winegrowers Association represents a community of over 35 fantastic wineries across the Bellarine Peninsula, Moorabool Valley and Surf Coast.

As part of this partnership, we will be jointly supporting two major annual events in the Geelong wine calendar, the Winter Shiraz Weekend and Toast to the Coast.

These iconic events are recognised for bringing people together, from near and far, to support and sample the best of our local region.

The Winter Shiraz Weekend takes place on 8 & 9 July 2017. Wineries throughout the region will be taking part by offering up open fires, award winning Shiraz and hearty winter fare.

Toast to the Coast is held over 4 & 5 November 2017 and is a festival of good music, fine local produce and award winning wines. Buses between the participating 25 wineries offer a hop on hop off service so you can relax and enjoy your day.

We are excited to be a part of this unique partnership and look forward to seeing you at these events!
